{"id":1852,"date":"2014-03-11T11:20:59","date_gmt":"2014-03-11T14:11:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/?p=1852"},"modified":"2014-03-11T11:21:43","modified_gmt":"2014-03-11T15:21:43","slug":"forgey-margaret-will","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/forgey-margaret-will\/","title":{"rendered":"Will of Margaret Forgey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Will Book ___, Page 190<br \/> Proven: 6th April 1846<\/p>\n<p> In the Name of God, Amen,<\/p>\n<p> I <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Margaret Forgey<\/span> of the County of Hawkins and State of Tennessee, being sensible that according to the law of nature that I must shortly leave this world and trusting and hoping to receive the reward of the righteous made perfect in the world to come;<\/p>\n<p>and being of sound mind and disposing memory do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in the words and figures following, to wit:<\/p>\n<p> First. I give and bequeath unto my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">James R. Forgey<\/span> two tracts of land and one negro boy named <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Tom<\/span>, being the same tracts of land and negro which were bequeathed to me by my beloved daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Rachael<\/span>, but my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">James<\/span> is to pay all the just debts against the estate of my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Rachael<\/span>, and all my debts and funeral expenses out of the bequest.<\/p>\n<p>And he is further to pay out of the bequest above written, Four hundred dollars to <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Eliza M. Cocke<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Malvina M. Conner<\/span>, the [<span style=\"font-style: italic\">as transcribed<\/span>] being my grand daughter, which said sum of Four hundred dollars is to be equally divided between my grand daughters, and the same to be paid to them in a short time after my death, and after which payment above directed, an absolute title in fee simple to the lands and negroes aforesaid is to vest in my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">James Forgey<\/span> and his heirs forever.<\/p>\n<p> Secondly. I give and bequeath to my grand daughters <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Eliza M. Cocke<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Malvina M. Conner<\/span>, all the right title, claim and interest I have in and to the slaves <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Joe<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Peggy<\/span> and the issue of <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Peggy<\/span>, which was bequeathed to me by my beloved daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Rachael<\/span> aforesaid, to be divided equally between my grand daughters aforesaid, to have and to hold to them and their children forever.<\/p>\n<p> And further, having full confidence in the fidelity of my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">James R. Forgey<\/span>, I do hereby nominate, appoint and constitute him Executor of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former wills and codicils, which I may have made and published.<\/p>\n<p> In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name This 20th day of December, 1843,<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"> Margaret Forgey<\/span> (seal)<\/p>\n<p>in presence of:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">R.
