Term, 1864<\/p>\n<p> The last Will &amp; Testament of <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John Williams<\/span> of the County of Hawkins and State of Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p>I, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John Williams<\/span>, considering the uncertainty of human life and being of sound mind and memory do make and publish this my last Will &amp; Testament in manner &amp; form following, that is to say:<\/p>\n<p>First. I give unto my beloved wife <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Ruth<\/span> one third part of the farm on which I now live, or on which may be living at the time of my decease, including the dwelling and out-buildings, one horse, one cow and such other stocks &amp; household and kitchen furniture as may be necessary for her comfort.<\/p>\n<p>Also one black girl named <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Nep<\/span> to keep and enjoy during the period of her natural life. At her death whatever property she may have is to be disposed of according to the directions given hereinafter.<\/p>\n<p>Second. I give to my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Anna<\/span> $150.00.<\/p>\n<p>Note: I have heretofore paid to my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Nancy<\/span> $900.00; to my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">James<\/span> $500.00; to my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Ruthy<\/span> $200.00; to my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Elisha<\/span> $150.00; to my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John N.<\/span> $150.00; to my daughters <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Harriet N.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Helen W.<\/span> &amp; <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Eliza<\/span> each $150.00.<\/p>\n<p>Other former bequests to my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Anna<\/span> is to make her up equal to those who have received $150.00.<\/p>\n<p>I then give to <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Anna McCauley<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John N.<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Elisha<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Mollie K. Carroll<\/span> my grand daughter &amp; <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Helen W.<\/span> each $50.00 to equal the amount paid to <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Ruthy<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>I then give to my daughters <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Anna McCauley<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Eliza Ballard<\/span>, the heirs of <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Ruthy Ballard<\/span>, the heirs of <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Harriet N.<\/span> &amp; to <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Helen W. Seaver<\/span> &amp; to my sons <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Elisha<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John N.<\/span> each $300.00 to equal the amount paid to <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">James Williams<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>I then give to <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Anna McCauley<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Eliza Ballard<\/span>, the heirs of <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Ruthy Ballard<\/span>, and the heirs of <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Harriet N.<\/span>, &amp; to <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Helen W. Seaver<\/span>, also to my sons <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">James<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Elisha<\/span> &amp; <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John N.<\/span> each $400.00 to equal the amount paid to <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Nancy Robinson<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>If there shall be enough of my Estate. If not, then same proportion must be observed and if more after these bequests, then the remainder to be divided equally among the heirs.<\/p>\n<p>I give to my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Joseph<\/span> a full heir&#8217;s part of my Estate which is to be governed and controlled by <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Elisha<\/span> &amp; <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John N. Williams<\/span> whom I do hereby appoint his Guardians and he is to have the sole benefit of said share during his natural life. At his death, it is to be paid over to the heirs as directed with my other Estate.<\/p>\n<p>And my directions are for my Executors to value whatever slaves there may be, as near as they can to those already sold, and the heirs who have not already slaves from the estate shall have the refusal of them.<\/p>\n<p>And do hereby appoint and constitute <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Elisha<\/span> &amp; <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John N. Williams<\/span> Executors of this my last Will &amp; Testament.<\/p>\n<p>In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal.
