{"id":1740,"date":"2014-03-09T19:37:09","date_gmt":"2014-03-09T23:37:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/?p=1740"},"modified":"2014-03-10T19:16:02","modified_gmt":"2014-03-10T23:16:02","slug":"white-joseph-will","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/white-joseph-will\/","title":{"rendered":"Will of Joseph White"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Will Book ___, Page 490<\/p>\n<p> State of Tennessee, Hawkins County, May the 11th day, 1835 &#8212;<\/p>\n<p> To all whom these presents may come greetings.<\/p>\n<p>I, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Joseph White<\/span>, in the name of God, Amen, Being frail in body but sound in memory do make and A doine [<span style=\"font-style: italic\">as transcribed<\/span>] this my last Will &amp; Testament.<\/p>\n<p> First of all. After my death, I desire my body to be buried decently and the expenses paid out of my Estate. Then secondly, I give and bequeath to my youngest daughter, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Elizabeth<\/span>, a certain tract and parcel of land that I bought of my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">George White<\/span>, and he from <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">William Moore<\/span>, being in said county war [where] I now live for her only proper use and to her heirs.<\/p>\n<p>And I give and bequeath to my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">William Gilmore White<\/span> 100 acres of land, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Burd<\/span>&#8216;s Old Survey adjoining my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Elizabeth<\/span>, be the same more or less, and I give and bequeath to my son in law <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Abram Shuttles<\/span> 100 acres of land in said county, it being the tract whereon he now lives, it being savied [surveyed?] by warrant.<\/p>\n<p>I give and bequeath unto my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">George White<\/span> $400.00,<\/p>\n<p>and I give and bequeath to my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Jemina White<\/span> the sum of $20.00, to be paid to her or her ares [heirs?] out of a certain tract of land lying joinin old <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Alexander Ballard<\/span> when sold.<\/p>\n<p>And the money maid out of said land, and I give and bequeath to my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Sally<\/span> $20.00 to be paid out of said land when sold and the money made out of said land.<\/p>\n<p>And the balance of money arising from the said land to go to pay the expenses arisen on said Estate and the land to be sold by my Executors.<\/p>\n<p>And also, it is my will that my youngest daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Elizabeth<\/span> shall have her bed and furniture.<\/p>\n<p>And this I make and Ordain my last will and testament whereunto I set my hand this day and date above written.<\/p>\n<p>And it is my will that my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">George White<\/span> shall be my Executor.<\/p>\n<p> <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Joseph White<\/span> (seal)<\/p>\n<p> Signed, sealed, published, pronounced by the Testator in the presence of:<\/p>\n<p> <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">James Lee<\/span><br \/> <span style=\"font-weight: bold\"> James Pangle<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>This Hawkins County Will was transcribed by one of the following volunteers:  Audrae Mathis; Gary Fletcher; Betty Mize; Diana Arney; Karen Negron, Kathey Welder.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Will Book ___, Page 490 State of Tennessee, Hawkins County, May the 11th day, 1835 &#8212; To all whom these presents may come greetings.
