{"id":1682,"date":"2014-02-11T18:20:52","date_gmt":"2014-01-26T07:01:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/?p=1682"},"modified":"2014-02-11T18:22:50","modified_gmt":"2014-02-11T23:22:50","slug":"skelton-william-will","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/skelton-william-will\/","title":{"rendered":"Will of William Skelton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-size: 18px;line-height: 24px\">Will Book __, Page 455<br \/>\nProven: July 6, 1851<\/p>\n<p>State of Tennessee Hawkins County In the Name of god, Amen.<\/p>\n<p>I <b style=\"font-weight: bold\">William <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Skelton<\/span> being of sound mind and memory, knowing at the same time the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death, I wish now to dispose of my property such as has been pleased [<span style=\"font-style: italic\">sic<\/span>] God to bless me with.<\/p>\n<p>I, <b>William Skelton<\/b> do make this and publish this as my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me made at any other time.<\/p>\n<p>1st. I direct that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be paid as soon after my death as possible out of any moneys that I may die possessed of or may first come into the hands of my Executors.<\/p>\n<p>2nd. I will one hundred dollars to my sister <b>Polly Chesnutt<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>3rd. I will to my sister <b>Nancy Williams<\/b> $50.00.<\/p>\n<p>4th. I will to my sister <b>Winney White<\/b> one dollar to her or to her heirs.<\/p>\n<p>5th. I will my interest in the land to <b>William Chesnutt<\/b>, the land where <b>William<\/b> now lives and also $250.00, and also three head of cattle.<\/p>\n<p>6th. I will one third of my interests in land to <b>Thomas Chesnutt<\/b>, the land where <b>Thomas<\/b> now lives.<\/p>\n<p>7th. I will that the Executors to my will sell to the highest bidder the balance of my interest in the tract of land where <b>Thomas<\/b> lives and the proceeds to be equally divided among the heirs of <b>Polly Chesnutt<\/b>, my sister.<\/p>\n<p>8th. And last, I will that <b>Thomas Chesnutt<\/b> &amp; <b>David Reynolds<\/b> be my Executors to manage my affairs<\/p>\n<p>and in witness whereof I do to this my will set my hand and seal.
