Term, 1857<\/p>\n<p>I <b>Thompson McGee<\/b> being weak in bodily health but of sound mind and disposing memory, knowing that all mortal beings have to leave this sublunary world for the realms of immortality, and in consideration of the same, do hereby make and ordain this my last Will &amp; Testament.<\/p>\n<p>In the first place, I bequeath to Almighty God my soul who gave it.<\/p>\n<p>Secondly. That all my just debts be settled out of my effects that I may leave.<\/p>\n<p>Thirdly. I bequeath and give unto <b>Alfred Rhoton McGee<\/b> my son my plantation of which I reside, conveyed to said <b>Alfred R. McGee<\/b> by <b>John Coldwell<\/b> for 350 acres more or less, also my slave <b>Elizabeth<\/b> with one half of all my household and kitchen furniture, together with all my interest in the farming tools including wagon &amp; gears.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth. I give and bequeath unto my daughter <b>Barbara Ann McGee<\/b> my slave <b>Mary<\/b>, together with one half of my household &amp; kitchen furniture. Also, one cow and a sorrel mare &amp; colt.<\/p>\n<p>My old slave <b>Edith<\/b> is to remain as the property jointly between my son <b>Alfred<\/b> and my daughter <b>Barbara<\/b>, and they are jointly bound to support her whenever she becomes unable to support herself.<\/p>\n<p>I further hereby provide that my daughter <b>Barbara<\/b> is to be supported out of the proceeds of my farm as long as she remains unmarried and single.<\/p>\n<p>Fifth. I give and bequeath to <b>Nancy Jane Lloyd<\/b>, my daughter $400.00 to be paid out of the amount her husband <b>Wm. Lloyd<\/b> is indebted to me. The residue of said debt I bequeath unto my son <b>Alfred<\/b> and daughter <b>Barbara<\/b>, equally to each for such support and attention which I may require while I live.<\/p>\n<p>My claims of debt on <b>John Copenhaver<\/b> for $800.00 with the interest thereon is to be divided equally between <b>Louisa W. Fudge<\/b>, my daughter <b>Susan Williams<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>I give and bequeath out of the debt of $1,500.00 coming to me from <b>John Copenhaver<\/b>, $250.00 unto the children of my daughter <b>Sarah Rice<\/b>, the sum of $250.00 to be paid out of said $1,500.00 debt. The balance of said debt will be $1,000.00 which I bequeath equally amongst my other six children or their heirs, to wit: my son <b>John A. McGee<\/b> &amp; <b>Joseph C. McGee<\/b> and my daughters <b>Elizabeth Harris<\/b>, dec&#8217;d heirs, <b>Livinia W. Wolfe<\/b> &amp; <b>Anderson McGee<\/b> my son &amp; <b>Lucy Henneger<\/b> and her child or children, the conditions of <b>Lucy<\/b>&#8216;s share except five dollars which is to be paid over to her, is to remain in the hands of my Executor to (be) paid over to a Trustee appointed by the Honorable County Court of Hawkins, to be paid out to said <b>Lucy<\/b> her child or children as the case may be as they may need the same by said Trustee for which service he is to be reimbursed out of said share.<\/p>\n<p>I hereby request, constitute and appoint my son-in-law <b>Conrad Fudge<\/b> and my son <b>Alfred R. McGee<\/b> my Executors to this my last Will &amp; Testament.<\/p>\n<p>In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and affix my seal This 8th day of November in the year of our Lord, 1855.<\/p>\n<p><b>Thompson McGee<\/b> (seal)<\/p>\n<p>Witness:<\/p>\n<p><b>John H.
