{"id":1590,"date":"2014-02-11T12:49:06","date_gmt":"2014-01-26T07:01:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/?p=1590"},"modified":"2014-02-11T13:09:12","modified_gmt":"2014-02-11T18:09:12","slug":"erwin-edward-will","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/erwin-edward-will\/","title":{"rendered":"Will of Edward Erwin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-size: 18px;line-height: 24px\">Will Book __, Page 166<\/p>\n<p>In the Name of God, Amen.<\/p>\n<p>I <b>Edward Erwin<\/b> of the County of Hawkins in the Territory of South of the River Ohio, being of perfect mind and memory do make ordain, publish and declare my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, Viz:<\/p>\n<p>I allow my body to be buried in a decent manner, also my worldly goods that divine Providence has in this life blessed me with, I dispose of in manner following:<\/p>\n<p>I allow all my just debts to be paid.<\/p>\n<p>I give and bequeath to my beloved wife after my decease all right and title to the plantation I now live on during her natural life. Also one negro woman name <b>Mariah<\/b>, one negro boy named <b>Dan<\/b>, also all the stock of horses, cow, &amp;c, together with all the implements belonging to the farming business.<\/p>\n<p>I give and bequeath to my daughter <b>Frances Erwin<\/b> one dollar.<\/p>\n<p>I give and bequeath to my son <b>John Erwin<\/b> one dollar.<\/p>\n<p>I give and bequeath to my son <b>William Erwin<\/b> one dollar.<\/p>\n<p>I give and bequeath to my son <b>Edward Erwin<\/b> one dollar.<\/p>\n<p>I give and bequeath to my son <b>Andrew Erwin<\/b> one dollar.<\/p>\n<p>I give and bequeath to each of the following one dollar<b>: Elizabeth Ervin<\/b>, my daughter, my sons <b>Robert<\/b> and <b>Samuel<\/b>, daughter <b>Mary<\/b>, son <b>Benjamin<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>I give and bequeath to my daughter <b>Sarah Erwin<\/b> after the death of myself and my wife one half of all my movable Estate except such parts as shall hereafter be specified.<\/p>\n<p>I give, devise and bequeath unto my daughter <b>Margaret<\/b> my plantation on which I now live, containing 200 acres or more, to her and heirs forever, subject however to the reservation aforesaid in favor of my wife, also one negro girl <b>Sarah<\/b> with all her issue, at my decease. Also one half of my movable Estate at the decease of myself and wife.<\/p>\n<p>I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friends <b>Samuel McPheeters<\/b> and <b>Joseph McMinn<\/b> Executors of this my last Will and Testament.<\/p>\n<p>And I do hereby revoke, make null and void all and every other past Will and Testament heretofore by me made, ordaining, publishing, making and declaring this and no other to be my last Will and Testament.<\/p>\n<p>In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal. This thirty first day of January A.D. 1794.<\/p>\n<p><b>Edward Erwin<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Signed, sealed, published, declared and acknowledged by the said <b>Edward Erwin<\/b> to be his last Will and Testament, in the presence of us who were present at the same time.<\/p>\n<p><b>Joshua Phipps<br \/>\nAr.
