I, Lucy Amis,<\/b> widow of the late Thomas Amis, <\/b>Dec’d., of Hawkins County and State of Tennessee, being weak in body but in sound mind and memory, meditating on the uncertainty of human events, ordain and request this my last Will and Testament.<\/p>\n
First. <\/b>I bequeath my soul to Almighty God, the giver of it, and request my worldly affairs in the following manner. <\/p>\n
It is my desire that my son Haynes Amis<\/b> have all my Estate of every description, and him to pay my son James Amis <\/b>and Nancy Howel <\/b>the value of Milly<\/b> and Joe<\/b>, the two oldest children of Polly,<\/b> which I consider to be worth six hundred dollars, which will be three hundred dollars to each — to be paid in two years after my death. <\/p>\n
Also, pay to Tabitha Cox, Francis Grantham, Polly Rogers,<\/b> the heirs of John Amis, Rachael Hogan, Willis Amis, Alla Gordon, Lincoln Amis <\/b>and the heirs of Thomas G. Amis,<\/b> one dollar each. <\/p>\n
And to Lucy N. Amis<\/b> youngest daughter of Lincoln Amis<\/b>, I wish to have my negro boy Charles<\/b> which I purchased of the said Lincoln Amis<\/b>.<\/p>\n
And it is my desire my step grandson John A. Rogers<\/b> act as my Executor in this my last Will and Testament, and I hereby revoke all other wills.<\/p>\n
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal. This 17th day of December, 1818.<\/p>\n
