{"id":1487,"date":"2014-02-10T18:42:49","date_gmt":"2014-01-26T07:01:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/?p=1487"},"modified":"2014-02-10T18:45:49","modified_gmt":"2014-02-10T23:45:49","slug":"king-barbary-will","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/king-barbary-will\/","title":{"rendered":"Will of Barbary King"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-size: 18px;line-height: 24px\">Will Book __, Page 292<br \/>\nRec&#8217;d for Record June 5, 1848<\/p>\n<p>(Abstracted)<\/p>\n<p>State of Tennessee, Hawkins County.<\/p>\n<p>In the Name of God, Amen.<\/p>\n<p>I, <b>Barbary King<\/b>, being of sound mind and disposing memory&#8230;wish now to dispose of my property, such as it has pleased God to bless me with.<\/p>\n<p>I, <b>Barbary King<\/b>, do make and publish this as my last will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time made.<\/p>\n<p>1st. I direct that all my funeral expenses and all my just debts be paid as soon after my death as possible out of any money I may die possessed of or may first come into the hands of my Executor.<\/p>\n<p>2nd. I will that my cupboard and all the cupboard ware, my clock and my wind mill, my two pots and a baker, and one skillet, one bed and bed covers, one pair of steelyards and wire sifter, my gray mare, my red and white pided cow.<\/p>\n<p>I have in my possession three notes of hand, one on <b>Charles Coffin<\/b> for $30.00 and interest, one on <b>Rodham Chesnutt<\/b> for $19.00 and interest, one on <b>John Barnett<\/b> for $12.00 and interest. 3rd.<\/p>\n<p>After my decease I want my Executor to sell all of the above named property for cash, and also all of my property (that I die owning ) and cause to be collected the three notes above mentioned, and out of the money arising, pay it to my children as I shall direct:<\/p>\n<p>First. I will to my son <b>Adam King<\/b> or heirs one dollar.<\/p>\n<p>2nd, 3rd and 4th: To my son <b>Charles King; <\/b>to my son <b>Jacob King <\/b>or his heirs; to my son <b>James King<\/b>, to each one dollar and no more.<\/p>\n<p>5th. I will to my daughter <b>Fanny Arnott <\/b>one dollar and no more.<\/p>\n<p>6th. I will to my two daughters <b>Sarah Beel<\/b> and <b>Elizabeth Garrison<\/b> all the balance of money arising from the sale of my property and notes as soon after my decease as possible.<\/p>\n<p>7th and last. I will that my neighbor <b>David Reynolds<\/b> be my Executor and manage my affairs.<\/p>\n<p>In witness whereof I do to this my last will set my hand and seal This 18th day of March, 1842.<\/p>\n<p><b>Barbary<\/b> [<span style=\"font-style: italic\">X<\/span>] <b>King <\/b>(seal) (her mark)<\/p>\n<p>Signed sealed and published in our presence and we have subscribed our names hereto in the presence of the Testator, 18th March, 1842.<\/p>\n<p>Attest:<\/p>\n<p><b>Wm.
