{"id":1211,"date":"2014-02-07T19:26:02","date_gmt":"2014-01-26T07:01:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/?p=1211"},"modified":"2014-02-07T19:52:09","modified_gmt":"2014-02-08T00:52:09","slug":"cooper-john-will","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/cooper-john-will\/","title":{"rendered":"Will of John Cooper"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-size: 18px;line-height: 24px\">Will Book __, Page 104<\/p>\n<p>In the Name of God, Amen<\/p>\n<p>I, <b>John Cooper<\/b> of the County of Hawkins and State of Tennessee, being weak in body, but of sound mind and memory, considering the uncertainty of life and being of sound and perfect mind &amp;c. blessed be Almighty God for the same do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say;<\/p>\n<p>First, I give and bequeath unto my eldest daughter, <b>Jane Cooper<\/b> a negro girl called <b>Mary<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>I also give and bequeath unto my daughter <b>Elizabeth Cooper<\/b> a negro girl named <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Agnus<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>I give and bequeath unto my daughter <b>Mary Cooper <\/b>a negro girl named <b>Mariah<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>I also give and bequeath unto my son <b>William Cooper<\/b> a negro boy named <b>Spencer<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>I also give and bequeath unto my son <b>James Cooper<\/b> four negroes to be divided after our deaths, equally between <b>William, John, Robert, Wiley, Absalom <\/b>and <b>Henry Cooper,<\/b> by the boys above named getting <b>Jane, Elizabeth<\/b> and <b>Mary Cooper<\/b> a horse, saddle and bridle a-piece.<\/p>\n<p>I also give and bequeath to my seven sons, <b>James, William, John,<\/b> <b>Robert, Wiley, Absalom<\/b> and <b>Henry <\/b>all my lands and tenements lying and being in the County of Hawkins and State of Tennessee. For them to have and to hold and dispose of agreeable to their will.<\/p>\n<p>At my death, my seven sons above named is to go equal shares in paying a bank debt that is against me.<\/p>\n<p>As for my stock and household and kitchen furniture (it) is to be divided among all my children, with the exception of my eldest son <b>James Cooper<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>This is my last will by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal.
