{"id":1209,"date":"2014-02-07T19:23:26","date_gmt":"2014-01-26T07:01:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/?p=1209"},"modified":"2014-02-08T03:32:10","modified_gmt":"2014-02-08T08:32:10","slug":"cox-tabitha-will","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/cox-tabitha-will\/","title":{"rendered":"Will of Tabitha Cox"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-size: 18px;line-height: 24px\">Book __, Page 103<\/p>\n<p>In the Name of God, Amen.<\/p>\n<p>I, <b>Tabitha Cox <\/b>of Hawkins County and State of Tennessee, being in good health but knowing the uncertainty of death, of sound mind and memory and knowing that all must die do make this my last Will and Testament in the manner following to wit:<\/p>\n<p>I will my soul to God who gave it, and my body to the earth from whence it came, to be buried in a decent Christianlike manner.<\/p>\n<p>And as to worldly goods it has pleased the Almighty to bless me with, I give and bequeath in the following manner to wit;<\/p>\n<p>It is my will that all my just debts be paid out of my estate.<\/p>\n<p>It is my will that my grandson <b>James Roling Henderson,<\/b> have my tract of land of 100 acres on the west side of <b>Robinson&#8217;s <\/b>Creek;<\/p>\n<p>it is my will that the balance of my lands be equally divided between my two grandsons, <b>Thomas G. A. Cox<\/b> and <b>Thomas H. Cox<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>It is my will that my executors pay to the Trustees of the Methois [<span style=\"font-style: italic\">as transcribed<\/span>] Church twenty dollars out of my estate.<\/p>\n<p>It is my will that my negro fellow <b>Joe<\/b> be emancipated at my death.<\/p>\n<p>It is my will that my Executors pay to <b>Edward Cox, James Cox, John Cox, Alice Hale,<\/b> formerly <b>Alice Cox<\/b> and <b>Francis Taylor<\/b>, formerly <b>Francis Cox <\/b>one dollar each out of my estate.<\/p>\n<p>It is my will that my daughter <b>Elizabeth Cox <\/b>have all my household and kitchen furniture of every kind and all my stock of every kind.<\/p>\n<p>It is my will that my grand daughter <b>Elizabeth V. Cox<\/b> have the balance of my Estate consisting of cash and lands.<\/p>\n<p>I do hereby appoint my friends <b>James Grantham<\/b> and <b>James Bradley <\/b>of Grainger and Hawkins County, Tennessee my Executors to this will, revoking all others by me made.<\/p>\n<p>And I, the said<b> Tabitha Cox<\/b> do hereby acknowledge this and no other to be my last Will and Testament.<\/p>\n<p>In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal.
