{"id":1072,"date":"2014-01-31T16:57:56","date_gmt":"2014-01-31T21:57:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/?p=1072"},"modified":"2014-01-31T17:05:38","modified_gmt":"2014-01-31T22:05:38","slug":"hicks-william-will","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/hicks-william-will\/","title":{"rendered":"Will of William Hicks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Book 2, Pages 161-162<br \/>\nProven: August Term 1876<\/p>\n<p>I, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">William Hicks<\/span> do make and publish this as my last will and testament hereby revoking void all other wills by me at any time made.<\/p>\n<p>First &#8212; I direct that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be paid as soon after my death as possible out of any moneys I may die possessed of or may first come into the hands of my executor.<\/p>\n<p>Secondly &#8212; I give and bequeath to my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Nancy<\/span> the sum of one dollar and this is all I ever intent to give her.<\/p>\n<p>Thirdly &#8212; I give and bequeath to my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Elizabeth<\/span> the sum of one dollar and that is all I ever intend giving her.<\/p>\n<p>Fourthly &#8212; I give and bequeath to my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Polly<\/span> the sum of one dollar and that is all I intend to give her.<\/p>\n<p>Fifthly &#8212; I give and bequeath to my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Lizan<\/span> [?] one sum of one dollar and that is all that I intend to give her.<\/p>\n<p>Sixthly &#8212; I give and bequeath to my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Kitty<\/span> the sum of one dollar and that is all I intend to give her.<\/p>\n<p>Seventhly &#8212; I give and bequeath to <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Jesse Hicks<\/span> my son the sum of one dollar and that is all that I intend to give him.<\/p>\n<p>Eighthly &#8212; I give unto my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">William I. Hicks<\/span> the sum of one dollar and that is all that I intent to give him.<\/p>\n<p>Ninthly &#8212; I give and bequeath to my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">James Hicks<\/span> the sum of one dollar and that is all I ever intend to give him.<\/p>\n<p>Tenthly &#8212; I give and bequeath to my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John Hicks<\/span> the following tract of land lying in Hawkins County in the eleventh civil district, bound as follows, beginning on my white oak corner thence southwardly up the Spring branch with <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John Webb<\/span> line to <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Rogers<\/span> line, thence westwardly with <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Rogers<\/span> line to <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">William Jenkins<\/span> line thence with said <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Jenkins<\/span> line to the beginning.<\/p>\n<p>And lastly, I do hereby nominate, appoint my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John Hicks<\/span> my executor.<\/p>\n<p>In witness whereof I do to this my will set my hand and seal this the 14th day of January 1873.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"> William<\/span> [<span style=\"font-style: italic\">X<\/span>] <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Hicks<\/span> (his mark) (seal)<\/p>\n<p>Signed, sealed and published in our presence and we have subscribed our names hereto in the presence of the testator this 14th day of January 1873.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Burwin B.
