M. SAVAGE<\/strong> was up in town last Monday for the first time in two or three weeks. His many friends were glad to see him out.<\/p>\n<p>A party of fishermen from Hickory Valley spent two or three days of this week at Statler&#8217;s Ferry.<\/p>\n<p>Rev. <strong>Mr. Hope<\/strong> preached on last Sunday to a large and attentive audience at the Presbyterian Church. Hope his services may be secured as their pastor. We give him a hearty welcome.<\/p>\n<p>Maj. <strong>W. B. RUFFIN<\/strong>, postmaster at Toone, is very ill, and is not expected to live many days. He had a stroke of paralysis sometime ago, and has gradually grown worse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>John BOYD<\/strong>, the colored barber from Toone, who is charged with stealing the money from Mr. <strong>W. F. FULLER<\/strong>, has been brought back to Jackson and lodged in jail. His brother, <strong>George BOYD<\/strong>, is said to have told on him, and George is being held as a witness.
