{"id":1993,"date":"2015-05-14T19:12:12","date_gmt":"2015-05-15T00:12:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hardeman\/?p=1993"},"modified":"2019-01-07T09:47:16","modified_gmt":"2019-01-07T15:47:16","slug":"1886-04-23-news-from-hickory-valley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hardeman\/1886-04-23-news-from-hickory-valley\/","title":{"rendered":"1886-04-23: News from Hickory Valley"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thinking some of the readers of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Bulletin<\/span> would like to know more of our pleasant little town, I make bold to send you a few items:<\/p>\n<p>Trade is certainly good and our four stores here are at times the scene of a deal of business activity.<\/p>\n<p>The farmers have been very busy of late and more improvements in the surrounding country have been going on than ever.<\/p>\n<p>Our residences in town are improved greatly by the thrift of their occupants, several houses having recently been taking on a new coat.<\/p>\n<p>Esq. <strong>J. S. McANULTY<\/strong> was seen around the store yesterday for the first time in three weeks, having been confined to the house with a severe cold.<\/p>\n<p>We boast of as fine a school as any in the county, but are in the great need of a new school building.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. <strong>Dave McANULTY<\/strong> is at present in Nashville attending the Grand Lodge K. of H., as the delegate of the lodge here.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. and Mrs. <strong>Will MAY<\/strong> are at home after a weeks visit to Memphis.<\/p>\n<p>We are anxious to hear what is being done towards the County Fair. The &#8220;Valley&#8221; will certainly join hand and heart to the enterprise and &#8220;old reliable District No. 2&#8221; will certainly be found in the van.
