{"id":1991,"date":"2015-05-14T19:08:57","date_gmt":"2015-05-15T00:08:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hardeman\/?p=1991"},"modified":"2019-01-07T09:47:16","modified_gmt":"2019-01-07T15:47:16","slug":"1886-04-23-local-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hardeman\/1886-04-23-local-news\/","title":{"rendered":"1886-04-23: Local News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There was a large crowd in town on Monday last, and trade was quite lively.\u00a0Monday last was a good day for our merchants because so many were trading.\u00a0Some of the leading farmers think the season two weeks ahead of last year.<\/p>\n<p>Little <strong>Mattie COCHRAN<\/strong> who has been quite sick for some time is now thought to be improving.<\/p>\n<p>Prof. <strong>ROSE<\/strong> has just received a globe and set of maps, for the use of his academy at Cloverport.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. <strong>Paul T. JONES<\/strong> has moved to the place bought by him of <strong>O. B. POLK<\/strong>, in town.<\/p>\n<p>Esq. <strong>R. N. MITCHELL<\/strong> has moved to the Dupuy place, west of the railroad.<\/p>\n<p>The weather this week has been lovely, and the farmers are taking advantage of it. Very few farmers have been in town since Monday last.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. <strong>J. C. McCABE<\/strong> is making brick in a hurry on the Asylum grounds. He will have the brick ready for the contractors by the time they will need then.<\/p>\n<p>Prof. <strong>ROSE<\/strong>, of Cloverport, has secured the services of Miss <strong>Mattie OVERTON<\/strong>, as assistant teacher.
