Two American citizens of African descent were piling lumber; <strong>Charlie MILLER<\/strong> threw a plank, which struck <strong>Andrew JACKSON<\/strong> on the leg. <strong>JACKSON<\/strong> became enraged; procured a pistol, came up to <strong>MILLER<\/strong> and fired upon him, the ball taking effect in MILLER&#8217;s body near the hip joint, right side. <strong>JACKSON<\/strong> seeing what he had done, immediately left for parts unknown. The wound inflicted is a painful though not a dangerous one.
