We are looking for information on Lewis RICE and Mary Josephine WADE (widow of Edward WADE) who met and married in Georgia before moving to Hamilton County, Tennessee. We believe they were both originally from South Carolina. There is some question of Mary being of Native American extraction, but we need more information. Some source gave her maiden name as WEHANNA.
Lewis RICE had a first wife named Sarah, by whom he had at least two sons, and perhaps four: John L., Josiah, Ezra, and Thomas. During the 1850 census, he also had a young woman of 19 living with the family--perhaps a daughter (?), named Elizabeth ROBERTS. When next found, with 2nd wife Mary in 1860 census, his son John was the only child of his first marriage still living with him. Mary's children are present, as well as their own child, Zachariah. All the children were given the surname RICE, although Jesse RICE later reverted to WADE. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated.

I am searching for name and gravesite of Walter Ernest WEBBER's first wife (name unknown!). According to the 1920 Census Walter was a "widower" with a daughter ( Lucinda WEBBER) showing age 1 yr and 1 month, which makes Lucinda born about Nov/Dec of 1919. Walter had been living in the Chattanooga TN area when his first wife died. He moved back to Knox Co from Chatt. to live with his parents so the daughter could be care for by his parents. Later, it is possible that the daughter, Lucinda WEBBER went to live with some of her deceased mothers family. I can't locate Lucinda living with her father and his second wife.
I do not have the name of Walter's first wife or know anything about her but need this information. Can anyone check for marriage for Walter Ernest WEBBER (probably about 1915/16 Chattanooga area ) and also a burial for a "female" WEBBER who died between 1919 and 1920? Logic says she will be buried in the Chatt. area also if she were from there when they married. Finding a death certificate on this "female " WEBBER would be great, but I need a name first!
Would appreciate any information please and/or lookups. Have cemeteries in Hamilton Co and surrounding areas been walked and recorded???...If so, how would I obtain this information? Thanks and contact me at trendsa@bellsouth.net

I am looking for the POSEY family that once lived in downtown Chattanooga in the early 1930's. They were listed as Joseph N. POSEY and wife Ada. They had five girls and one baby on the way. This is a follow-up to an earlier question. It seems that Abraham RICE, son of Lewis RICE and Mary Josephine WADE, widow of Edward WADE, had the name of WATHORN (previously thought to be WEHANNA) on his death certificate (referring to his mother's maiden name). Does anyone have any information on a WATHRON family, particularly one that might have been in South Carolina in the early part of the 1800s? Mary Josephine was said to have been born in 1824 South Carolina, married Edward, and later moved to Hamilton County, Tennessee, and finished her life in Arkansas. I had earlier thought she lived in Georgia because that was where she married Lewis RICE, but a Tennessee researcher told me that it was common for people in Tennessee to cross the state line to be married in Georgia, so she may never have lived there.
