He was born 1 Jan. 1800, died 3 Feb. 1879, Grundy Co., TN; married (2) Salina HOLLINGSWORTH. *Residence, Grundy Co., dark complexion, grey hair, grey eyes, 5'9 1/2". Considered the largest slaveholder in the county, Patton owned 51 slaves valued at $22,500. Enlisted 29 Apr 61 as Captain at Pelham, aged 61; resigned 8 Aug 61 due to general debility. Succeeded by Elijah REYNOLDS. He subsequently returned to Tennessee. Took the oath at Nashville, 20 May Back to the Grundy County Home Page
