Seeking info on Joseph TATE who was the son of Major James TATE.Major TATE died in Grundy Co in 1849. Per the estate settlement ofMajor James TATE, Joseph had pre-deceased his father and had left heirs. These heirs were not named. In my research of my Cherokee heritage, and from talking to people inthe South, I often come across those whose families who are from the South who claim and have been told by their grandparents, etc… thatthey are “Blackfoot” but I can’t find any evidence that that Tribe was ever in this part of the country. I have been given a few explainations as to possible origins.
