RODDY, TOWNSEND
Searching for RODDY family that was living in Grundy county in the 1920’s. In particular, Madison RODDY and his son John RODDY. Madison RODDY would have been about 80 years old in 1920 and he had remarried earlier to a Lillie (Elizabeth??) GOOLE. I think they had a daughter that would have been born around 1895 that was also named Lillie or Elizabeth. Madison had a son named John by his first marriage, b. ca. 1870. John married my grandfather’s sister, Lottie TOWNSEND, in 1918. They moved to Oklahoma for a while but moved back when Lottie got tuberculosis in about 1922. Lottie died in about 1922, but left behind a child named Ethell RODDY. After she died, John RODDY left with Ethell and nobody has heard from them since. I would appreciate any information that anyone could give.

WALKER, THOMAS, SMITH, CUNNINGHAM, CAPPS
I am looking for my Cherokee ancestry. My grandmother was Samantha Pauline SMITH, married William Elliot SMITH in 1888 near Monteagle, TN. She was the daughter of Andrew C. SMITH & Sarah THOMAS (marr. 1853). Sarah was daughter of James Thomas & Marinda WALKER, (marr. 1834) originally from GA, possibly Troupe Co., and moved to near Sewanee, TN, probably between 1834 and 1835. The Cherokee is probably from Marinda, but there could also be Cherokee from THOMAS & SMITH. I had heard that my grandmother was 1/2 blood, but that might be stretching it. Wm. E. SMITH was son of Isaac Capps SMITH & Malinda Ann CUNNINGHAM. Isaac was son of John SMITH & Jane CAPPS, N.C. I hope to be able to trace further back also. Appreciate any help.
