HUNTER, TRIMUE, PATTON
Recently learned that my g.mother may have been part Cherokee. Her father was James Grimes PATTON, b. Coffee Co, TN, 1818; son of Rachel JARRETT and Daniel PATTON. Her mother was Mary Caroline HUNTER, b. Grundy Co, TN, in 1826. Hunters lived near Pelham . Mary HUNTER’s mother was Mary TRIMUE, her father’s first name may have been Rufus. Mary Caroline Hunter PATTON had some Indian physical characteristics. Her daughter, my g-mother, was Susie Alice PATTON (BASSETT), who could count in an Indian language – possibly Cherokee. PATTONs were Scots-Irish and had no Indian heritage , so HUNTER and/or TRIMUE families may have been part-Cherokee. JARRETT is also found among the Cherokee. Rachel JARRETT’s mother was a MOYERS; father was Daniel JARRETT. Have lots of PATTON info; will share. Need more HUNTER and TRIMUE info.

LOWE, CANNON
Levi LOWE and wife Mary (CANNON) and several children, one of which was John, age 6 in 1900 census of Grundy County. Does the county have Levi’s marriage record? It is said that Levi went to Oklahoma and married an Indian girl before he married Mary. John, the son, became a coal miner in AL and died in the 1930s of lung cancer. Among his survivors are John LOWE Jr and Maxine Lowe PARSLEY. Any information about Levi would be appreciated.

PERRY, HENLEY
Researching William Troy PERRY (b. 1898) and wife Bessie HENLEY . Both are believed to have been born in Tracy City. Left Tracy City area in the early 1930’s and moved to Kentucky. Who were their parents? None of their 4 surviving children remember their grandparents names. Bessie had previously been married to a Stanley BARNES. BRADSHAW
Seeking information about BRADSHAW in the Monteagle area. My mother’s father was Joseph Anthony BRADSHAW from that area. She said that her grandfather lived at the foot of the mountain looking down from Monteagle. She said one of his sisters was Belle. One sister ran the Post Office and one was a teacher. My mother’s brother Carl BRADSHAW married a lady from Monteagle named Ida Mae I cannot locate her maiden name. She had a sister named Harriett. LAXTON
The name Jesse LAXTON was listed in Perry Co. very early. I think he was a son of James I. He later settled in the Grundy Co. TN area. His wife’s name was Jane (found in land documents). He named a son John Guinn and a son Jesse Ferrel, I think both GUINN and FERRELL are in some way family names. Jesse Ferrel LAXTON (born 1834) married Dorcas BRADSHAW and later Emily GUINN. I have been told that they are buried in Grundy Co. I would like the dates if anyone has them. I would appreciate any help you can give on the LAXTON family name.
