{"id":935,"date":"2015-09-21T20:33:58","date_gmt":"2015-09-22T01:33:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/goodspeeds\/?p=935"},"modified":"2017-06-10T07:53:40","modified_gmt":"2017-06-10T12:53:40","slug":"robert-reaves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/goodspeeds\/robert-reaves\/","title":{"rendered":"REAVES, Robert"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ROBERT REAVES<\/strong>, a farmer and stock raiser, of the Twenty-third District of Bedford County, was born November 14, 1833, and is the son of <strong>Isom and Rachel (Morgan) Reaves.<\/strong>\u00a0 The father was a native of North Carolina and when a young man immigrated to Bedford County, Tenn., and settled in the Twenty-third District.\u00a0 He was a farmer and stock raiser, and was successful in all his undertakings.\u00a0 He was worth considerable property at the time of his death, which occurred January 1, 1871.\u00a0 He was the father of five children: <strong>Benjamin, John, Robert, Frances M<\/strong>. and <strong>Jane<\/strong>.\u00a0 <strong>Isom Reaves<\/strong> was twice married, his first wife being a <strong>Miss Chaney Coggens<\/strong>; three children were born to them, all dead but one, named <strong>William<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Our subject was reared on the farm and received a limited education in the common schools.\u00a0 In 1855 <strong>Miss Martha Morgan<\/strong> became his wife and this union resulted in the birth of five children: <strong>Bettie F., Mary J., Robert A., Dulcenia<\/strong> and<strong> Emmet<\/strong>.\u00a0 <strong>Mary J.<\/strong> died in 1869 and <strong>Robert A<\/strong>. died the same year.\u00a0 When the war broke out our subject acted as escort to Gen. Forrest. He was under Capt.
