W. NORMAN<\/strong> was born June 20, 1818, and spent his boyhood days on a farm, receiving a common school education.\u00a0 He began life as a farmer, and was married in 1840 to <strong>Miss T. E. Webb<\/strong>, daughter of <strong>Isaac Webb,<\/strong> of Rutherford County, and six children have blessed their union: <strong>Elizabeth A., Catharine J., Sarah G., Amanda R. and James L<\/strong>., and one who died in infancy.\u00a0 <strong>Mrs. Norman<\/strong> died in 1874, and <strong>Mr. Norman<\/strong> took for his second wife <strong>Mrs. Fannie E. (Smith) Webb<\/strong>.\u00a0 Her father, <strong>Morgan Smith,<\/strong> died at his home near Shelbyville, October 4, 1875.\u00a0 He was a Democrat.\u00a0 <strong>Mr. Norman&#8217;s<\/strong> last marriage occurred November 2, 1884.\u00a0 His wife is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, and he belongs to the Masonic fraternity.<\/p>\n<p>His father, <strong>Henry Norman<\/strong>, was born in the &#8220;Palmetto State,&#8221; and came to Tennessee with his father when he was but nine years of age.\u00a0 He was married when quite young to <strong>Elizabeth Aubery,<\/strong> and by her became the father of seven children, only two of whom are now living.\u00a0 <strong>Mrs. Norman<\/strong> died in 1850, and her husband took for his second wife <strong>Mrs. Sallie White,<\/strong> in 1851.\u00a0 She died in 1854, and he then married, in 1857, <strong>Mrs. Becky Caldwell.\u00a0<\/strong> <strong>Mr. Norman<\/strong> died in 1867.<\/p>\n<p>Transcribed by Kathryn Hopkins<\/p>\n<p>Goodspeed Publishing Co.\u00a0<i>History of Tennessee from the Earliest Time to the Present: Together with an Historical and a Biographical Sketch of Maury, Williamson, Rutherford, Wilson, Bedford &amp; Marshall Counties, Besides a Valuable Fund of Notes, Reminescences [Sic], Observations, Etc., Etc<\/i>.
