(Dr.)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>DR. GEORGE W. MOODY<\/strong>, a leading physician of Shelbyville, was born November 5, 1848, being a son of <strong>Samuel S. Moody<\/strong> (see sketch of C. J. Moody).\u00a0 He was reared with his parents to the age of twenty-one, and had begun the study of medicine.\u00a0 In 1869 he graduated in the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia.\u00a0 He then located in Shelbyville, where he has met with justly deserved success in the practice of his profession.<\/p>\n<p>He was married, March 16, 1861, to <strong>Miss Georgie Strong<\/strong>, a native of this county.\u00a0 Her parents were from northern Alabama, and her mother is the daughter of <strong>Gen. Moore,<\/strong> of Tullahoma, Tenn.\u00a0 <strong>Dr. Moody&#8217;s<\/strong> married life has been blessed in the birth of two children, viz.: <strong>Winston G. and Samuel S<\/strong>.\u00a0 Himself and wife are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, and he is steward and trustee of the same.\u00a0 He is a member of the Medical Society of Tennessee, a Democrat in politics, and is a worthy and highly respected citizen of the county.<\/p>\n<p>Transcribed by Kathryn Hopkins<\/p>\n<p>Goodspeed Publishing Co.\u00a0<i>History of Tennessee from the Earliest Time to the Present: Together with an Historical and a Biographical Sketch of Maury, Williamson, Rutherford, Wilson, Bedford &amp; Marshall Counties, Besides a Valuable Fund of Notes, Reminescences [Sic], Observations, Etc., Etc<\/i>.
