KIMBRO<\/strong>, a merchant of Singleton, Tenn., was born February 8, 1856, and is one of three children born to <strong>Riley J. and Martha A. (Span) Kimbro<\/strong>.\u00a0 The father was born and reared in this State, and was by occupation a farmer and mechanic.\u00a0 He was married twice, our subject&#8217;s mother being his first wife.\u00a0 She was the mother of these children:\u00a0 <strong>William L., James and Frederick D.,<\/strong> and died in 1861.\u00a0 <strong>Mr. Kimbro<\/strong> took for his second wife <strong>Mrs. Margaret Raney (nee Robertson)<\/strong>, and six children blessed this union:\u00a0 C<strong>harles H., Henry, Minnie, Walter, Ira and Zannie<\/strong>.\u00a0 <strong>Riley Kimbro<\/strong> was a member of the Lutheran Church, and died October 4, 1885.<\/p>\n<p>Our subject had the advantage of a good practical education, and in 1879 was joined in the holy bonds of matrimony to <strong>Miss Tennie J. Coleman<\/strong>.\u00a0 The result of this union was four children:\u00a0 <strong>Marvin L., Roy E., Argie L. and Hoyt.<\/strong>\u00a0 <strong>Roy E<\/strong>. died in 1883.\u00a0 In 1882 <strong>Mr. Kimbro<\/strong> engaged in the mercantile business at Singleton, Tenn., and has since that time continued the business at that place.\u00a0 He carries a stock of $1,500, and is doing a business of $3,500, and also runs a blacksmith shop in the same town.\u00a0 He is a member of the Lutheran Church, and is a leading and highly respected citizen.<\/p>\n<p>Transcribed by Kathryn Hopkins<\/p>\n<p>Goodspeed Publishing Co.\u00a0<i>History of Tennessee from the Earliest Time to the Present: Together with an Historical and a Biographical Sketch of Maury, Williamson, Rutherford, Wilson, Bedford &amp; Marshall Counties, Besides a Valuable Fund of Notes, Reminescences [Sic], Observations, Etc., Etc<\/i>.
