MARSHALL<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, furniture dealer, and present mayor of Tullahoma, Tenn., was born in Lincoln County, Tenn., in 1842, and is the son of <strong>J.W. and Nancy T. (Neal) MARSHALL<\/strong>, natives of Prince Edwards County, Va. Reared on the farm of his parents, our subject received his education at \u00a0the neighboring schools. At the age of thirteen he came with his parents to Tullahoma, and entered his father\u2019s store, remaining until the opening of the late war. He then enlisted in Company B (Confederate), of Turney\u2019s First Regiment of Tennessee Infantry. After the war he returned home, working at different occupations until 1876, when he opened a stove and furniture store. Selling his stock of stoves in 1885, he has since carried furniture only, the only establishment of the kind in the city. For several years Mr. MARSHALL served on the police force of Tullahoma, and for seven years was a member of the board of aldermen. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">February 4,1886, he was elected mayor for a term of two years, the first man elected to that position by the people of that city. He is a member of the Odd Fellows\u2019 Lodge, and the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and is a Democrat. In 1865 our subject was married to <strong>Lucinda C.,<\/strong> daughter of <strong>Robert DARWIN<\/strong>, deceased, of Tullahoma. They have had twelve children, four of whom are dead: <strong>Mary L.,<\/strong> born January 3,1867; <strong>Emma C.<\/strong>, March 14, 1871; <strong>William R<\/strong>., April 15, 1874; <strong>Lottie L.<\/strong>, November 29, 1875; <strong>Harry L<\/strong>., March 12, 1877; <strong>Daisy L<\/strong>., May 20, 1879; <strong>Josiah M<\/strong>., May 18, 1881, and <strong>Minnie V<\/strong>., born June 22, 1883. The mother died in April, 1885.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Goodspeed Pub.
