CARR<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, lawyer, was born near Tazewell, January 2, 1848, the son of <strong>John H. and Mary (Bryant) CARR<\/strong>, of Irish and German origin, the former born in Claiborne County in 1821, where he still lives, and the latter born in 1824 in the same county, and deceased April 16, 1865. \u00a0The father was a farmer and since 1867 has been connected with merchandising at Old Town, but has been at other points. \u00a0He is a Democrat. \u00a0He next married <strong>Mrs. Nancy VENABLE<\/strong>, nee <strong>BARTLETT.<\/strong> \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our subject, the second of six children, was mainly self-educated on account of the war, and worked on the farm until of age, when he went to Millville, Mo., and read law under Col. GARNER. \u00a0In 1870 he returned, and in August, 1873, was admitted to the bar at Jacksboro. \u00a0Since then he has been a successful and prominent lawyer. \u00a0In March, 1874, he came to Tazewell. \u00a0His family now consists of a wife and three sons and one daughter. \u00a0He is Republican, and his wife is a Missionary Baptist. \u00a0It should be stated that his grandfather, <strong>Jesse CARR<\/strong>, is now about ninety-six years old. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Goodspeed Publishing Co.\u00a0<i>History of Tennessee from the Earliest Time to the Present: Together with an Historical and a Biographical Sketch of from Twenty-Five to Thirty Counties of East Tennessee<\/i>.
