{"id":1058,"date":"2015-09-24T20:13:51","date_gmt":"2015-09-25T01:13:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/goodspeeds\/?p=1058"},"modified":"2017-06-10T07:53:36","modified_gmt":"2017-06-10T12:53:36","slug":"joshua-yell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/goodspeeds\/joshua-yell\/","title":{"rendered":"YELL, Joshua"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>JOSHUA YELL<\/strong> is a son of <strong>James Yell<\/strong>, who was born in North Carolina, and came to Tennessee with his father when young, locating in Rutherford County.\u00a0 He was married to <strong>Jerusha Barton<\/strong>, daughter of <strong>William Barton<\/strong>, and by her became the father of twelve children, only seven of whom lived to maturity. <strong>Archibald Yell<\/strong>, brother of <strong>James Yell<\/strong>, was governor of Arkansas two terms previous to the Mexican war, and was killed in that war while commanding the Arkansas troops.<\/p>\n<p>The subject of this sketch was born September 15, 1832, and spent his boyhood days on a farm and in attending the common schools. He was married October 2, 1852, to <strong>Miss Rebecca A. Waite,<\/strong> and ten children were born to them:\u00a0 <strong>Nancy B<\/strong>. (deceased), <strong>A. D<\/strong>., <strong>James A<\/strong>., <strong>Annie, Benjamin, G.
