Shortly after coming to Dickson Co., the father died. In 1830, John

death (March 5, 1885) he is found in Houston County (old Stewart
County part). John BATEMAN married Juliet THOMPSON July 10, 1823 in

BATEMANs in Dickson Co. references. I am trying to connect John
BATEMAN to his parents from North Carolina and to his siblings. John

Patrick H. MADDEN age 42 was listed in the 1850 census of Dickson
Co., Tenn. with wife Esther age 44 and children John E. age 23,
Thomas, Howel, Mary M., and Esther the youngest child who was 6 at
the time. Who was Patricks father? What was Esthers maiden name?
Patrick and Esther were both born in Tenn. There seems to be some
confusion among researchers about the parents of young Esther. Were
her parents Patrick and Esther? or was John E. her father? If so
then who was her mother? There may be an Indian connection as my
family has Indian roots.
