Thomas J. Murrell<\/b>\u00a0was born in Dickson County, Tenn., January 11, 1825, the son of\u00a0Thomas<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Ella (Coen) Murrell<\/b>, both of whom were natives of East Tennessee. The father was trustee of Dickson County for seventeen years. Our subject was first engaged in farming, which occupation he followed for twelve years, when he engaged in merchandising at Dickson, Tenn. He was married, December 28, 1845, to\u00a0Mary Eliza Austin<\/b>, who was also born in Tennessee. Their marriage has been blessed by ten children:\u00a0Elenora<\/b>,\u00a0Mary Elizabeth<\/b>\u00a0(deceased),\u00a0Missouri Alice<\/b>,\u00a0Thomas Franklin<\/b>\u00a0(deceased),James Samuel<\/b>,\u00a0Mary Franklin<\/b>,\u00a0George R.<\/b>\u00a0(deceased),\u00a0William M.<\/b>,\u00a0Lucinda E.<\/b>\u00a0(deceased) and\u00a0Nannie Beulah<\/b>.
