Hunt<\/b>\u00a0was born at Clarksville,\u00a0<b>Montgomery Co.<\/b>, Tenn., July 28, 1839. His parents were\u00a0<b>Solomon<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0<b>Ann R. (Hillyard) Hunt<\/b>. The father was a native of North Carolina, and came to Tennessee about 1835. He was a prominent farmer and died in 1841. The mother was a native of Virginia. At the age of eighteen our subject was engaged as clerk at Williamsville for\u00a0<b>W. D. Balthrop<\/b>, merchant, and remained with him two years, when he was married, November 17, 1859, to\u00a0<b>Serenia P. Slaydon<\/b>. This union has resulted in nine children:\u00a0<b>William T.<\/b>, born July 23, 1860;\u00a0<b>Theodosia<\/b>, born in 1862;\u00a0<b>Robert B.<\/b>, born in 1864, and died in his childhood;\u00a0<b>Solomon E.<\/b>, born February 5, 1867;\u00a0<b>Albert P.<\/b>, born August 20, 1869;\u00a0<b>John Franklin<\/b>, born in 1871;\u00a0<b>James Morris<\/b>, born in 1873;\u00a0<b>Noel Clarence<\/b>, born in 1875, and\u00a0<b>Hartwell Slaydon<\/b>, born in 1877. Our subject entered the Confederate Army, under\u00a0<b>Gen. Forrest<\/b>, in 1861, in Company C, Tenth Tennessee Cavalry, and served throughout the war without receiving a single wound. He and wife are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. He is a member of the Masonic fraternity, belonging to Yellow Creek Lodge, No. 319, and is a Democrat. He is a man of much influence in his community, and has accumulated a nice sum of money.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>James C.
