I am looking for information on my gggrandfather and
ggggrandmother. I have possibly found them in Nash County,
NC. John and Elizabeth TISDALE. I don't know if Elizabeth's maiden name
was EVANS or WARBINGTOn because she had
connections to both. Was always told there was Cherokee gggrandmother.
Don't know if she was or not. They had several
children, Thomas, George W., Nicholas, Sallie A., Elizabeth, Dewitt,
and Joseph (my ggrandfather). John and Elizabeth
died during Civil War, leaving young children. My ggrandfather was the
youngest and was about 13 when parents died.
He then migrated to Dekalb County, TN., while still a teen-ager, never
going back to NC. He died in 1896 at age
of 44, being born around 1852. If any one has information on John and
Elizabeth, I would appreciate it. Diane Ellis

Looking for any info on CROOK family from Dowelltown and
Liberty, DeKalb Co, Tenn. James Wesley CROOK son of
John & Sharlotte CROOK had three wives. First was my ggm,
(believe maiden name was SANDLIN or SANLIN. They
married and she died between the 1860 and 1870 US census. Three
children: Polly CROOK HAWKER, Elijah CROOK and
my gf, William Riley CROOK (b) April 8, 1869. His mother died 9 days
later on April 17, 1869. I'm assuming she
was buried in Dismal cemetery. James Wesley CROOK's 2nd wife, Nancy
Jane PARKER,12 children some went to Van Alstyne,
Grayson Co, TX like Elijah and William Riley. 3rd wife, Mary Elizabeth
ADAMSON, all 5 children died, but they raised
Bessie GIBBS, daughter Louise GIBBS BAILIFF, all from Dowelltown. There
is a Pattie Hawker road in DeKalb Co. Pattie
HAWKER was son of Polly CROOK HAWKER. Any current info on Pattie? For
40 years I've been looking for SANLIN/SANDLIN
name. Can anyone help?

Mary Ann SEVIER and John HOLTERMAN were listed as the parents
of Emmaline C. LANE in her application for Civil
War widow's pension and on her birth certificate. Adaline(twin) and
John were siblings. Was RoseLinda a sister?
She is listed in 1860 DeKalb Census: LANE,William A 40, Ross A. Linda
30, Parthena L. 12, Elizabeth 2. She is listed
in 1870 Warren Census with Richard LANE, who married his brother's
widow. She is also with Richard in 1880 Warren
Census. Where was RoseLinda in 1850? Does anyone know? She eludes us.
Thanks for reading!

Looking for a John Bryant, who lived in Marion Co, IL in 1850
at the time of his father's death. He was son
of James T. Briant, and was born in TN, probably DeKalb or Lincol n
County. Did he marry a Mary? In a 1850 letter
to her son William Gleason Bryant in DeKalb County,TN, Rachael Briant
tells her son about the death of "your
dearsister Mary", and that she left three little children to "your
father." Now, was Mary a dau
ghter of James T. & Rachael, or was she daughter-in-law, wife
of their son John Bryant? If so, they were married
about 1838, probably in TN. Anyone able to help me? Thanks, Mary Bryant
