Deed
George Measles
I James N Roy have this day bargained and sold and do hereby
transfer and convey to George Measles and his heirs forever for the
consideration of fifteen hundred dollars a tract of land with the State
of Tennessee Dekalb County and District 13 containing by estimation
forty eight acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows
Beginning on a Sh---tree stump Moses Ford’s North East corner thence
north 38 ¼ poles to a break in G.M. Garrison’s line thence west 16 2/3
poles to a stake on the pike thence south 41degrees East 110 poles to
the bridge Moses Fords corner thence north 35°
East 32 poles to a beech thence north 75 ½ degrees East 28 ½ poles
passing through the spring to a beech thence North 80° East 49 poles
to the beginning to leave and to hold the same to the said George
Measles his heirs and assigns forever. I so covenant with the said
Measles that I am lawfully seized of said land and have a good right o
convey and that the same is unencumbered I do further covenant and bind
myself my heirs and representative to warrant for forever defend the
title to the said land and every part thereof to the said George
Measles his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all person
whatsoever but retaining a lien on same until the purchase money is
paid. This 2nd day of July 1870.

Dekalb County Personally appeared before me P. J. Magness
Clerk of said county the within named bargainor James N Roy with whom I
am personally acquainted and who acknowledged that he executed the
within deed______for the purposes therein contained witness my hand at
office this July 2nd 1870.
