A N Hays is Asberry Newell Hays according to his death certificate, he
was born November 4, 1852. He died on April 18, 1928 in Alexandria and
was buried on April 19. He was the son of Henry Hays (abt. 1812-?) and
Lucinda Overall [from combination of Asberry's death cert. and the 1860 DeKalb Co., TN census] (abt. 1812-?).
He married Tennie Cooper on February 22, 1872 in DeKalb Co, TN. The
census gives their children as: Isaac H, Tilithia J, Mattie L, Asbury,
Sallie B, Tennie and Linie. Also the 1900 census states that there were
9 children born with 6 living on that date.
Permelia Tennie Cooper was born September 14, 1854. Tennie died in Alexandria
and burial was on February 22, 1940. Source of death date: TN Death
certificate for Tennie Hays, also states her father as Isaac Cooper
and her mother as ____ Yeargin, both born TN. DeKalb marriage records
say Isaac Cooper [b. abt. 1837 TN] married Talitha Yeargan [b. abt 1838 in TN] on November 20, 1848.
