Mary Elizabeth (Vannatta) King was the daughter of James Vannatta (1828-1862) and Caroline Garrison (1825-1904). She was buried beside her mother.

It appears that Mary married first Manson B. Scott (b. 1833) on August 2, 1912 in DeKalb Co., TN, and he died April 15, 1913. He had been married three times before.

She then became the second wife of William Robert King. "Mary Elizabeth Scott" married "W. R. King" Dec 3, 1913 in DeKalb Co., TN. She appears in the 1920 census with him. Robert was born August 7, 1836 in Cannon Co., TN, the son of William King and Nancy Kelly, and died March 4, 1923 at age 86 in DeKalb Co., TN. His previous wife was Indiana Frances Mahaffee, whom he married December 25, 1855 in Wilson Co., TN. Robert was buried at "Sycamore" according to his death certificate.
