Effie Sandlin was born October 23, 1886 to John Wesley and Liza
(Malone) Sandlin. She married Fred Vanatta December 21, 1904 in DeKalb
Co TN. She died December 28, 1952.
Fred Vanatta was born April 23, 1883, but his death certificates says
that he was born April 20, 1881. He died April 25, 1955 in
Alexandria, DeKalb, TN. He was the son of John and Katherine Measles
Vanatta. He died of congestive heart failure and Pulmonary
TB. The informant on his death certificate was his daughter, Mrs Harvey Caplinger. He
was buried on April 26, 1955.
Howard W. Vanatta, the son of Fred Vanatta and Effie Sandlin Vanatta,
was born June 2, 1917. He died April 26, 1936. He was a
farmer. He was buried April 27.

(see dates above). Lena married on Feb. 24, 1926 in Wilson Co., TN to
Harvey Caplinger (b. abt. 1901, son of William R. and Helen D.
Caplinger). Lena was buried in Hillview Memorial Cemetery in
Alexandria, DeKalb Co., TN beside her husband. Her obituary is in the

contributed by Earl France. Beware, there are two Lena Caplinger's in
those obituaries. She is the second one in the list. Her husband's
