He was born
at Liberty, DeKalb Co., TN, the son of John and Francis (Adams)
Allen of Liberty, DeKalb Co., TN. The death certificate was not
recorded
until July 1911, and that makes it appear that the death was in 1911;
if they waited over a year to record the death certificate, why bother
at all? Before 1914 there was no penalty for not recording a death
certificate in TN, and many were not recorded.
The 1900 census shows William born in April, but it is unreliable,
since it has his birth year off by a decade.
William married first to Cynthia Lewis on July 23, 1868 in Wilson Co., TN. Cynthia was born abt. 1855 in TN.

William married second to Rebecca Ann Gatton on August 18, 1892 in Wilson Co.,
TN. She was born May 20, 1865 or 1866, the daughter of Joe Gatton and Nancy E.
McKee, both buried here. She died March 31, 1943 in District 13,
Alexandria, Wilson Co., TN, and she was buried here.
