JAMES A PATTON 1845-1915
James A. Patton was born October 23, 1845 and died July 23, 1915 in Wilson Co., TN. His death
certificate has no more information other than the medical part. From
the censuses, he seems to be the son of James N. and Ruth J. (Godfrey)
Patton of Statesville, Wilson Co., TN. Robert was stated to be his
brother (b. 1852) living with him in 1900, which confirms the parents.
James A. Patton married Manerva Neal on March 18, 1869 in Wilson Co.,
TN.
Manerva Neal was born on February 11, 1844, the daughter of Claborn Wesley and Margaret (Woods)
Neal, both parents buried here. She died on December 6, 1882.

(1) Robert Neal (b. 1873- d. 1915), buried here
(2) Jesse Oscar (b. Dec 11, 1874- d. May 27, 1949 Wilson Co., TN) md.
Marguerite Etna Foutch on Nov. 15, 1911 in DeKalb Co., TN. Applied for
WWI draft from Glendale, AZ in 1917, but listed permmanent residence as
Alexandria, TN at the time. Buried Fairview Cemetery, DeKalb Co., TN.
(3) Minnie Ellen (b. 1878- d. 1880), buried here
(4) Manerva Ava (b. 1882- d. 1945) md. Ed Reeves, both buried here
James A. Patton married second to Sarah "Sally" A. Burns/Byrne [either pronounced as Burn] on November 28, 1888
in Cannon Co., TN, the daughter of John C. Burns/Byrne and Jennett Kitchens. "Sallie" is listed as
wife of James in the 1900 Wilson Co., TN census, and her mother "Jennie
Byrns" (b. Apr. 1822) is living with them. Also Sarah's death
certificate lists James A. Patton as husband. Sarah was born
on November 13, 1850 in Cannon Co., TN and died on June 10, 1939 in
Alexandria, DeKalb Co., TN.
