I'm looking for information on Edmund HALL, 1853 - abt. 1905, a Cherokee who settled Putnam County in late 1800's, married Elizabeth (Bettie) SHIRLEY of the Upper Board Valley area. Specifically, I'm looking for information pertaining to his death. An unknown man from Monterey supposedly made a deathbed confession of killing Edmund for money or information on silver mines in the area between Crossville and Pikeville abt. 1905.

FORD, SWAN
Is anyone familiar with this story, and does anyone have anything toadd?: Just before the Civil War Christopher FORD married ElizabethSWAN. The marriage didn't work out. There was an ongoing domesticdispute between the SWANS and the FORDS about custody of thedaughters of Chis and Elizabeth. One day in about 1862 the childrenof Chris and Elizabeth FORD were staying with FORD's father, Dr. JohnFORD. Robert SWAN and some other SWAN family members went to the FORDhouse, murdered Dr. FORD and ran off with Elizabeth and thedaughters. They made their way north by fording a river and stayed atthe old Potter Place in the area now known as the Catoosa WildlifeManagement Area. The SWAN family was still covered with blood. Theythen moved farther north to Sublimity Springs in Pulaski Co, KY andestablished a new life. Robert SWAN returned to Cumberland Co about11 yrs later and is buried at the Grassy Cove Methodist Cemetery.
