THOMAS SMOTHERS Will Probated June Tem 1892 Minute Book E Page 650 I, THOMAS SMOTHERS of the County of Crockett & state of Tennessee, do make this my last will and Testamony... 1st I give will & devise to my wife MARTHA SMOTHERS during her natural life the following described lot or parcel of land lying & being & situated in the County of Crockett civil District No 5 and State of Tennessee... (lengthy description of land)... containing by estimation 108 acres & 107 poles, embracing my pressent residence and after the death of my wife MARTHA SMOTHERS, I direct will bequeath & devise the above described land to my three children to witt JAMES P. SMOTHERS, J. T. SMOTHERS and SARAH J. HUGHES the same to be equally divided between them. I give and devise to my Grand son JAMES B. NEAL son of my deceased daughter C. E. NEAL 40 acres land... (lengthy description of land)... bounded by JAMES SMOTHERS, REAMES, and GEORGE SMOTHERS. I give and direct to be equally divided between my two sons J. P. SMOTHERS & T. J. SMOTHERS and any & all other lands that I may die possessed of I give bequeath & devise to my three children JAMES P. SMOTHERS, T. J. SMOTHERS & SARAH J. HUGHES equally divided between them. I give bequeath and devise to my wife MARTHA SMOTHERS after paying all my funeral expences for her use and benefit and during her natural life all the stock house hold & kitchen furnature except one bed & bed clothing and all the personal property of every description any part of which may be sold for her use & benefit... what is left of same to be equally divided between my three children... I give bequeath & devise to T. T. NEAL my grand son Five Dollars and one bed & bed clothing the same to be selected by JAMES P. SMOTHERS who is hereby appointed my executor to carry out his my last will and testament this January 5th 1882 THOMAS SMOTHERS
