MATILDA LEWIS Will Probated December Term 1885 Minute Book D Page 406 The last Will and Testament of MATILDA LEWIS I MATILDA LEWIS of the County of Crockett and State of Tennessee being aware of my age and approaching dissolution and being of sound mind and discretion do make this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former will That is to say, at my death, my son L. B. LEWIS is to possess have and hold the full and perfect right and title to sixty five acres of land situated in the County and State aforesaid, it being a portion of the tract on which I now live, taken from the eastern end thereof, and in including the mansion house with all the appertenances thereunto belonging. I also give and bequeath unto the said son L. B. LEWIS all the horses, mules, cows sheep hogs and poultry and all other stock that may be on hand at the time of my demise, also all household and kitchen furniture of every description and especially ask that he keep securely a certain chest descended to me from my mother said article of furniture now being about one hundred years old. It is further my will that the remaining fifty four acres of the tract of land heretofore mentioned and west of the aforesaid sixty five acres, shall be disposed of in equal share to the following named persons � viz: THOMAS I. LEWIS one share, my grand daughter LILLIAN R. LEWIS one share, my grand daughter SARAH FRANCES LEWIS one share, that the Executor hereinafter named shall take charge and controll and hold in trust for the two last named, their respective shares, until they attain their majority or enter into marriage, that the sum of thirty dollars of the said LILLIAN's share shall be give to my grand daughter MARY JANE BELL. I furthermore hereby appoint the said L. B. LEWIS Executor without requiring bond or security, and he is hereby empowered to sell and reinvest the proceeds of the land allotted to the aforesaid LILLIAN R. and SARAH FRANCES, if in his discretion it should be best, or make such other dispositions of the same as in his judgment may be conducive to the interest of said minors during their minority. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal This 28 day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy five. MATILDA LEWIS
Witnesses: Codicil: I, MATILDA LEWIS do revoke so much of the above will as relates to THOMAS J. LEWIS, LILLIAN R. LEWIS, SARAH FRANCES LEWIS and MARY JANE BELL, and do give and bequeath the shares or interest in the said fifty four acres land, which is to them above given, to my son L. B. LEWIS. I do give and bequeath to my son at my death, L. B. LEWIS all the property real or personal, in law or equity, which I may possess or be interested in at my death, in this State or any other.
