Will of D. H. JAMES Probated Nov. Term 1900 Minute Book "8" page 6 I, D. H. JAMES do hereby make and publish this my last Will and Testament hereby, making void all other wills by me at any time made. First. I direct that my funeral expenses first be paid with all my other just debts. 2nd. I bequeath to my Daughter MAY E. PITTMAN all of my home tract of land lying of Bear Creek & West of the Poplar Corner Road - the East side of sd road to be sold & proceeds divided - and South Joining the lands of FOREST RAINES divided by a ditch, all in Crockett County Tenn. said land to be rented or cultivated and controlled in every way by my two sons MOSES JAMES & FRED C. JAMES whom I leave Exutors to this Will, the proceeds to be applied to the support of the sd MAY E. PITTMAN during her natural life and then may be given to her natural or bodily heirs but this Will shall in nowise be so construed as to mean that either of my Sons shall be deprived of the benefits of pleasure of the old homestead as long as either of them remain single. 3rd. I give and bequeath to my son MOSES L. JAMES my tract of Eighty nine of land in Crockett County known as the CLARK & MITCHELL land. Also 47 acres west of the Creek being purchased from JAMES McLEARY (This is the Home place) & 5 acres on the S.E. of McLEARY tract the same by me also of him. 4th. I give to my son FRED C. JAMES my tract of land in Gibson County known as the BROWN LEE (see boundaries & description) containing 75 acres also my one half interest in 118 acres purchased from CLARENCE MITCHELL lying also in Gibson County adjoining the lands of JAMES and JAMES & MAY NETHERLY. 5th. As I have already advanced to my Daughter MATTIE CRADDOCK Seven Hundred Dollars and disire to make her children equal I bequeath to each of them Seventy five acres known as the MUSGRAVE land Joining COLLINSWORTH & RAINES containing two hundred and twenty five acres to be equally divided between them. This land lyes in the 4 dist. of Crockett Co. Tenn. & equally divided between CARL DAVID & PAUL. 6th I desire that there be no sale of my personal effects unless such should be considered necessary especially the household goods that they be divided among the children as near equal as possible. FRED C. having his Mothers goods that all the furniture be divided the CRADDOCK not taking any share their Mother having had her share should a sale seem necessary the Executors may sell either public or private as may seem best.
