JONATHAN HALL Will Probated February Term 1887 Minute Book D Page 579 I JOHNATHAN HALL of the County of Crockett and State of Tennessee do hereby make Publish and Declare This my last will and Testament... 1st - I direct that my Funeral Expenses and all my just debts be paid... 2d � I give and bequeath to my Wife MARGARET T. HALL The Lot of Land on which I now live in the town of Gadsden Crockett Co. Tennessee Bounded north by R. Road South by RICHARDSON East by SANDERS Heirs and west by Dyersberg & Jackson road containing Four and one half Acres... together with the Hotel and all other buildings and fixtures belonging or atached to said lot I futher Bequath to her all my household and Kitchen Furnature one Horse (Named Rock) Buggie and Harness one Cow or Cow and calf of her choice and one Thousand Dallars in Gold (now on hand) and I further Give and bequeath to her The use controll and benefitt of Thirty five Acres of Land Lying on the west End of my two Hundred Acre tract near Gadsden & Known as my old Homestead sd Land to be used and controlled by her for the use & benefit of Timber During her life and at her death all the above bequsts to revert back to my lawful Heirs as I may further Direct and bequath. 3d � I give and bequath to my daughter NANCY E. HALL one Hundred and Seven and � Acres of Land to be Laid off of the East part of my two hundred acre tract known as my old Homestead near Gadsden... so as to include my old manshion House and well and The Seven & � acres tract purchased by me from _____ (no name given) and Forty five Dollars of my Share or stock in the Gadsden Mill Company The profits on same to be paid to her by the superentindant of said mill at Each Distrabution of profitts all of which I Bequeath to her during her life and then to her bodily heirs and if none to revert back to my Lawful Heirs I value sd land at $1200. 4th � As I have Given to my Daughter SARAH E. HEALE A tract of land in Crockett County Tennessee and made deed to same sd Land being valued at One Thousand Dollars I Bequeath to her the amount of sixty five Acres of Land being apart of my old Home tract in Crockett County and to be set apart on the west and adjoining the tract or Lot Bequeathed to NANCY E. HALL... 5TH � I have given to my Daughter LOUMIRAH J. RAINES Sixty acres of Land in the County of Henderson Tennessee Valued at about Five Hundred Dollars and Expressed in the Deed to same as Desire to Equalize my Children and Said LOUNAIRA J. having since Died and there being only One of her children living and I being now unwilling to make said child (to witt LONA BELL RAINES) Equal in all Things with my own living Children (Some of whoom have several Children to raise) I give and bequeath to my said Grand Daughter the sd LONA BELL RAINES a tract of Land in the 4th civil District of Crockett County Bounded North by R. H. COX's Heirs East by J. B. TATUM South by the JESS CASSELS Land and west by AVERY, the same being purchased by me from J. M. CASSELS and containg Fifty Seven acres more or Less to have and to hold the same During her natural Life and Decend to her Bodily heirs but in case she Die without bodily Issue sd Land to revert back to my children or their Issue. 6th I have Given to my Daughter MARTHA A. CORNATZER two Houses and Lots in the town of Gadsden Crockett County Tennessee Valued at nine Hundred Dollars I do here by Give and Bequeth to sd MARTHA A., A Tract of Land in Crockett Co. Tenn 3rd dis. ajoining the Land of W. R. PHILLIPS and others containing Fifty one acres I value said Land at Nine Hundred Dollars I also give to said MARTHA A. One Lot in Gadsden Joing the Lots Given her and the one on which a crib now stands being built by her husband G. M. CORNATZER to have and to hold said tract and lot to said MARTHA A. During her Life and at her Death Decend to her bodily heirs or their Issue. 7th � I have Given to my Daughter MARGARET A REECE Forty Acres of Land by Deed in Crockett County Tennessee Valued at one thousand Dollars I give and bequeath to her the Sum of Eight Hundred Dollars it being Remainder of my Stock or share in the Gadsden mills as my Interest was Eleven Hundred and Forty five Dollars... 8th � I do Futher bequeath and Decree that my Lot and House Known as the SETH TAYLOR Lot and my vacant Lot adjoining THOMPSONS Shop lot and my tract of (14) Fourteen acres in 1st Dis of Crockett County, Bounded North by AVERT CACEY (Casey?) Lands East by THOS. E. NOEL West by S. WILLIAMS and my tract of 46 acres in 2nd Dist Crockett County adjoining my Old Homestead on the South west by WILOUGHBY East by CHESTER and bounded south by POWELL all be left in the hands of my Executor and I hereby autherize and empower him to sell any and of these Lots Tracts or Parcels of land at any time he has a favorable oportunity and can do so at a fare price... 9th I further order and Direct that after the Death of my wife MARGARET T. that all the property Real and personal that I have bequeathed in this will to her the Personalty to be sold to the Highest bidder after Legal notice be Givin and note and Security be taken on 12 month time and That the Four � Acres of Lots be divided as followes Lot No 1 Including mansion House Lot and Garden Lot no 2 Including Hotell and all the Land now Inclosed and there to attached Lot no 3 Runing a Direct Line with Back End of Garden and Including all the land Lying South East that said Lots be Buted and Bounded by Legal meets and bounds... Executor to sell sd Lots... 8th (should be 10th) - I further Direct that after my Death & then in case my wife be living that all the perishable or personalty not given to my sd wife be sold as soon as practable and the money when collected be Divided betwen my four Living Children.
9th I further Direct that after the Death of my said wife and the final sale of the property made as Directed in this will and the proceeds collected that a final Distrabution be mad as follows to witt. 10th & Lastly � I hereby constitute and appoint my Friend D. H. JAMES my Executor to this Last will & Testament JONATHAN HALL Signed Sealed and Delivered in our pressence this the 30th day of June 1886
A. R. SENSING I JOHNATHAN HALL do hereby make the following as a change and codicil to my Last will and Testament made and assigned on the 30th day of June AD 1886. 1st I do hereby abrogate and make void all that portion of the 7th section of sd will which bequeathed to the said MARGARETT A. REACE Eight Hundred Dollars (in stock) in the Gadsden mill property Leaving sd amount to be Equally Distributed among my Heirs as Directed in regard to my other Bequests in sd will 2nd I do so order change and Alter the 4th section in my said will so as to give and Bequeath to my said Daughter MARGARETT the said tract of Land there given to my Daughter SARAH E. HEAL hereby making null and void said bequest as to the said SARAH. 3rd I do hereby give and Bequeath to the said SARAH instead of my former bequest of sd Sixty five acres (it being the same just changed) Forty six and � acres of Land Lying on the south of my Old Homestead and being the same purchased by me of E. B. MASON I value said 46 � acres at Seven Hundred Dollars. 4th & Lastly I order and direct that there be no Interest counted or charged in the settlement of my Estate against any of my heirs on account of any advancements made by me During my lifetime.
