Will of Andrew Jackson Dunn - Dated 13 Jul 1873

In the name of God Amen I ANDREW JACKSON DUNN of the County of Crockett and state of Tennessee of sound body and mind in the enjoyment of all my faculties do make and publish this my last will and testament revoking and renouncing any and all other will or wills by me made.

First I give and bequeath to my dear beloved Aunt MARY ANN HUGHSE of Crockett County Tennessee all my personal Estate of any and all kind money, notes accounts Choses in action horses stock and in fact all the personal property of which I may be seized and possessed at the time of my death, as well as any claims I may have against any and all person or person whatever.

Second I do hereby appoint W. A. TUCKER my Executor to fully carry out this my last will and testament.

The undersigned was called on by ANDREW J. DUNN for the following purposes and under the following circumstances to wit I W. M. RAY (or WM. M. RAY) on the night of Mar 26th 1877 was at the house of said ANDREW J. DUNN who was then on his death (the word death was crossed out) bed from sickness he was in his proper mind fully rational &c; when he of his own accord without any suggestion from any one asked me how he could make his will stating that he thought that he would die and that he greatily desired to do so my answer was that It should be written but might be by good witnesses being called to witness his wishes His answer was that the verbal will was the quickest and also stated that he wanted to send for witnesses and said as DR. POINDEXTER promised to be there soon in the morning he would send for MR. W. R. JOHNSON or asked me to do so I then in compliance with his request sent a note to MR. W. R. JOHNSON requesting his presence the next morning and stating the object of said A. J. DUNN in sending for him.

The undersigned being all present in the house of said A. J. DUNN on the morning of Mar 27th 1877 he of his own accord introduced the subject and called upon us to witness his last will saying that he willed and gave to his Aunt MARY HUGHSE all of his property of every kind personal and real he stated that he had a will before he was of age in which he had willed all his personal property to his aunt MARY HUGHSE but at that time he could not give his land on account of his being under age which he mentioned as being two hundred acres and that now he would in addition to his personality to will to his said aunt MARY HUGHSE all of his land and property of every kind.

He called on each of us to witness this as his last will and when discussing the disposal of his property was perfectly sane and rational and lucid in all his wishes and directions the said A. J. DUNN was then upon his bed in his own house where he had lived for years and where he died on the 1st day of April 1877. Witness our hands this the 3rd day of April 1877.
