I, MOSES COX of the State of Tennessee and Crockett Co. do make and publish this my last will and testament...

First, I will, and bequathe to Almighty God, my soul, He who gave it.

Secondly, I direct that my funeral expenses and all my debts be paid...

Thirdly, I give and desire and bequeathe to my beloved wife MARY in case she out surviving me all my property both personal and real during her life time as follows, to witt:- ... all my personal property (except the House hold and Kitchen furniture which I leave in the full controll of my wife if she out lives me, other wise to my executor) to be sold at Public sale to the highest bidder...

Fourthly, I give, desire and bequeathe my entire land property, or real estate as follows to witt:- to my wife, I desire she have full controll, and benefits of all my land during her life, should she out live me and after both our Deaths, I direct that our children inherit it in Lots or tracts. The same being and lying in the State of Tennessee Crockett County and Civil District No. 4 consisting of two seperate parcels. The Homestead tract being bounded and described as follows... (lengthy description of land, with many trees mentioned)... bounded by the land of J. W. PATE?, PORTER REASONS, J. F. M. COX, a church lot, and Grave-yard, L. C. COX, BERRY PATTERSON, and WILLIAMS... containing by estimation 274.82 acres more or less, and one other tract or parcel (16 acres) an undivided interest between myself and JAMES PORTER Dec'd bounded and described as follows to witt:- Lying in Crockett County (formerly Gibson) Range 4 section 1, 13th District... (lengthy description of land)... bounded by land of JOHN BARFIELD.

I own an undividid half interest of my homestead tract 274.82 acres, which I divide into 10 separate shares or lots. I give desire bequeathe to my eldest Daughter SOPHRONIA E. MOORE and her heirs Lot No 8... (lengthy description of lot), containing 36 acres be the some, more or less.

Lot No 5, I give desire and bequathe to my eldest son JAMES A. COX, and his heirs bounded and described as follows... (lengthy description of lot), containing by estimation 34 4/10 acres be the some more of less.

Lot No. 2 I give desire and bequeathe to the heirs of my second son, MOSES P. COX Dec'd, bounded as follows to witt:-... (lengthy description of lot), containing by estimation 26 acres be the some, more or less.

Lot No. 3 I give desire and bequeathe to the Heirs of my second Daughter MARGRETT H. JAMES Dec'd bounded and described as follows, to witt:- It being the lot upon which my dwelling House now stands... (lengthy description of lot), containing by estimation 26 4/10 acres be the some more or less.

Lot No. 1 I give desire and bequeathe to my Daughter MARTHA A. BRYANT her heirs bounded and discribed as follows to witt beginning on the N. E. C. of the original tract of OLDHAM tract... (lengthy description of lot), bounded by J. W. PORTER, and Wm. REASONS... containing by estimation 31 1/5 acres be the some more of less. I also bequeathe to my Daughter MARGRETT A. BRYANT (name as written) the undivided half interest of 16 acres tract above discribed between myself and JAMES PORTER Decd.

Lot No. 10 I give desire and bequeathe to my son JOHN F. M. COX and his heirs bounded, and described as follows to witt:- ... (lengthy description of lot), bounded by WM. REASON... containing 26 acres be the some more or less.

Lot No. 7 I give desire, and bequeathe to my son LEWIS C. COX, his heirs, bounded and discribed as follows to witt:- ... (lengthy description of lot), bounded by PATTERSON,,, containing by estimation 25 acres be the some, more or less.

Lot No. 4 I give desire and bequeathe to my daughter ASENETH L. SMITH's Heirs bounded as follows to witt:- ... (lengthy description of lot), containing by estimation 34 � acres be the some more or less.

Lot No. 9 I give desire and bequeathe to my son WM. T. COX and his heirs being bounded and described as follows to witt:- ... (lengthy description of lot), bounded by a church Lot, grave Yard, and JNO. F. M. COX... containing by estimation 24 � acres be the some more or less.

Lot. No. 6 to my Daughter MINIRVA C. BRIGGANCE I give, desire and bequeathe which is bounded and described as follows to witt:- ... (lengthy description of lot)... bounded by PATTERSON... containing by estimation 20 acres be the some more or less.

Fifthly:- I desire that the proceeds of the Sale of my entire personal property (except House hold and Kitchen furniture) be held in reserve for my wife should she stand in need of it...

Sixthly:- I direct that whatever of money or means remain after the death of my wife if any be equally divided between our children each and every one shareing alike. Those that are dead and having heirs living heirs such heirs drawing that part as their respective Parents would be intitled to if living.

Seventhly:- I direct that in the case of minors in the division of my estate that such Minors be settled of with by my Executor upon their arrival at the proper or legal age.

Eightly:- I direct that suitable Tomb-stones be erected at the Graves of my wife and self out of my estate Left at the direction of my Executor.

Lastly:- I do hereby nominate, and appoint my son JAMES A. COX my Executor...
