Will of C. H. CONLEY
Probated August 11, 1936

I, C. H. CONLEY, do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills made by me at any time.

1st. To my wife, MARY LEE CONLEY, for and during her lifetime or so long as she is my widow, then to my son CLAUDE for and during his life time, (or so long as she is my widow, then to my son CLAUDE for and during his lifetime) and at his death to his heirs, I give and devise what is supposed to be one hundred (100) acres lying in the 6th civil district of Crockett County, Tenn. the same being butted and bounded as follows: On the north by a tract of land which I purchased from my brother HORACE CONLEY; east by TIPTON and R. L. CONLEY; south by PAYNE land and west by the land of my sister MRS. BERTA CONLEY FARROW. Being my home place.

2nd. To my son WALTER, for and during his life and at his death to his heirs, I give, devise and bequeath one hundred and twenty five (125) acres of a tract of land known as the FARROW farm in the 6th civil district of Crockett County, Tenn. and on the north side of the farm bounded on the north by MOSE SMITH land; east by JIM BAILEY land; south by WILL LOWERY farm and west by public road.

3rd. To my son HALLUM, for and during his life and at his death to his heirs, I give devise and bequeath the L. B. LEWIS farm containing about one hundred and two (102) acres lying in the 6th civil district of Crockett County, Tenn. Bounded on the north by my home place; east by the Bells and Alamo (old) road; south by PITNER land and west by WALTER GREEN CONLEY land.

4th. To my son WALTER and his wife, ALLIE CONLEY, I give jointly the place they live on in the 6th civil district and to my son WALTER, I give and bequeath one half undivided interest in the Frog Jump farm containing about two hundred and twenty five (225) acres and lying in the 10th civil district of Crockett County, Tenn. I also give and bequeath to my son WALTER, a tract of land containing about thirty seven (37) acres lying in the 6th district near the Dry Hill school house. I also give my son WALTER about one hundred (100) acres of the FARROW farm lying on the south side of the farm which is in the 6th district, provided the said WALTER CONLEY shall pay to his mother each year so long as she is my widow the sum of __ dollars and the payment of this sum annually is made a condition precident to the right to take the Frog Jump farm; the farm near Dry Hill school house and the FARROW land of about one hundred (100) acres.

To my son HALLUM, I give and bequeath the GUY DANE [?] place in the 5th civil district or 6th, right near the line, Crockett County, Tenn. containing by estimation thirty (30) acres. I also give to my son HALLUM, one hundred and twenty seven (127) acres in the 7th district, the QUINCY farm. part of the FERRELL farm and three fourth (3/4ths) undivided interest in forty five (45) acres in the same district adjoining the above tract on the south, provided however that the said HALLUM CONLEY shall pay to his mother each year while she remains my widow the sum of __ dollars and payment of this annually is made a condition precident to the right to take the DANE [?] place; the QUINCY farm and the three fourths (3/4ths) undivided interest in the forty five (45) acres adjoining the QUINCY farm.

To my son CLAUDE, I give and bequeath a three forths (3/4ths) undivided interest in the WAINRIGHT farm in the 6th civil district of Crockett County, Tenn. containing about seventy five (75) acres, also a tract of land which I bought from my brother HORACE CONLEY, containing about 116 acres lying in the 6th civil district of Crockett County, bounded on the north by AUSTIN and GREEN; east by GREEN and CONLEY; south by home place and west by the O. P. GREEN place. The above boundaries include sixteen (16) acres bought by me from AUSTIN. I also give to my son CLAUDE a tract of land which I bought from by brother WALTER GREEN CONLEY containing about 100 acres. Bounded on the north by the home place; and on the east by BOB CONLEY and L. B. LEWIS farm and south by TOM GREEN land and west by the Alamo and Cherryville Road. Also one half of a tract of land bought from J. T. GREEN containing about thirty five (35) acres. One half undivided interest in a tract of land bought from BOSS NORVILLE containing about five (5) acres. One half undivided interest in a tract of land bought from MRS. PEARL OLDHAM containing about nine (9) acres. For reasons that are to me sufficient I do not require CLAUDE to pay his mother any rent as I do WALTER and HALLUM.

I also give to my son HALLUM, forty five acres in the 8th civil district known as the JIM PIPKINS land provided however that the said HALLUM CONLEY shall pay to his mother each year so long as she remains my widow the sum of __ dollars and the payment of this sum annually is made a condition precident to the right to take the land known as the JIM PIPKINS farm.

PERSONAL PROPERTY.

The dividens on my stock in the Bank of Alamo to be paid to my widow so long as she lives or so long as she remains my widow. The remainder of my personal estate is left to my wife so long as she remains my widow however if she should die or marry before there is a settlement of my personal estate the entire personal estate is to go the my three sons share and share alike. Or if any one of them should be dead their heirs to receive the part their father would have received provided however that out of the money realized on a two thousand ($2,000.00) life insurance policy I am carrying in the Equitable Life Assurance Society, my executors shall pay any unpaid pledge or pledges due the first Christian Church at Alamo or to the Building Committee of said Church. In other words having taken out the above policy for the purpose of covering any liability of mine to the Church at my death, I want and direct that the money be so applied.

I nominate and appoint my wife MARY LEE CONLEY and my three sons WALTER, HALLUM and CLAUDE as executors of this my last will and testament and request that they be not required to make bond as such, knowing as I do that they will faithfully and honestly carry out my wish.

This is Colombus H. Conley, s/o Tolbert Fanning Conley and Cordelia J. Green. His wife was Mary Lee Lock. They were married 4 May 1893, Crockett Co..I believe both are buried at Alamo City Cemetery.
