Will of A. C. CATES - Probated Feb 6th 1922
Minute Book 10 Page __

I, A. C. CATES, so make and publish this my last will and testament...

Mentions:

To my daughter, MRS. LOTTIE JANE VIA, one fifth of my tract of land in the 5th Civil District of Crockett Co., bounded on the North by LEWIS, SMITH, BLACKBURN and DAVIS; the east by CLYDE BLACKBURN, on the south by FIFE and NAILER and west by JOE YEARWOOD and CLAUDE FIFE... contains about, but not quite Twenty acres and includes the house and other buildings I now occupy...

To my two grand children JAMES ALEXANDER CATES and FLORENCE CORINNE CATES, children of my son HORACE CATES, deceased, one fifth of my said tract of land above described, to be taken next to the share of MRS. VIA, containing nearly but not quite Twenty acres

To my son L. E. CATES, one fifth of said above tract of land to be taken off next to the share of HOARACES children, for and during his life, and at his death, one fifth of his said share to go to his son LAMAN O. CATES and the remainder to his other heirs (not named).

To my son R. G. CATES, one fifth of said above described tract of land to be taken off next to the share of L. E. CATES.

To my daughter MRS. MAGGIE FRANCIS SULLIVAN, one fifth of my said tract of land, about but not quite, Twenty acres, her share being off of the extreme east end.

MRS. VIA, who gets the home place which is more valuable than the other shares, is to pay to HORACES children seventy five dollars, to L. E. CATES, seventy five dollars and to MRS. SULLIVAN Two hundred dollars. The reason a larger sum is to be paid to MRS. SULLIVAN is because of the drainage tax on her part of the land.

[No Executor was named in the will]

Witness my hand this, August 30th, 1920
A. C. CATES

Witnesses:
