Will and Testament

I, ANNIE R. CASEY of Gadsden, Tennessee, And Humboldt, R - 9, being of sound mind, do hereby make publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament.

First: - I order and direct my Executors, as soon after my death as Practicable, to Pay off And discharge All the debts, dues and liabilities that may exist against me at the time of my death.

Second: - I expressly desire And order that a Monument, as Nearly like my husband's as possible, be erected, with this inscription:--

Third: That my furniture and other belongings be sold, either privately or at public Auction.

Fourth: - All the furniture etc. that I have at the home of my sister, MATTIE LOU JONES, I give and bequeath to her absolutely. To LOUISE JONES, I give my silk quilt. To LOIS JONES, I give my worsted quilt. To MARY ELIZABETH JONES, I bequeath my book case. To CLARENCE EUGENE REEVES, I bequeath my watch. To my brother WILLIS L. REEVES, I bequeath four good quilts; to BRENTS PRIESTLEY, I give one quilt. To MARGUERITE EUGENE CASEY, I give my ring.

Fifth: For their exceedingly great kindness to me in my widowhood, I give and bequeath to CLARENCE CASEY, WALTER CASEY and ARTHUR P. CASEY, one lot on east side of Court Square in Alamo, Tennessee, being the lot on which my late husband, EUGENE CASEY, built an office, which was burned after his death.

Sixth: I order that my house and lot in Gadsden, Tenn., be disposed of in whatever manner seemeth best to the heirs.

Seventh: After my decease, H. W. REEVES, W. E. REEVES, and OLLIE A. JONES are not to pay any more interest, than has been paid, on the notes I hold against them.

Eighth - My Clothing, I bequeath to my sister, MATTIE LOU JONES.

Ninth: My nephews and nieces, not being so near to me as my brothers and sister, I give and bequeath to each of the living children of my deceased sisters, LODUSCA PRIESTLY and JENNIE BRUMMETTE, fifty dollars ($50.00). To WENDELL HALL JR., son of PEARL BRUMMETTE HALL, (deceased), I bequeath $25.00 Twenty - five dollars to be given in trust to WALTER L. BRUMMETTE, without bond or interest, to be used for him at any time it may seem needful. The balance of my estate to be divided equally among my brothers, HIRAM W. REEVES, WILLIS L. REEVES and WM. ED REEVES, and my sister MATTIE LOU JONES.

Tenth: I hereby nominate and appoint H. W. REEVES and W. E. REEVES - Executors of this Will, without bond and with remuneration.

The following information was added by Hugh Dunlap:

I have parents of Annie Rebecca Reeves Casey as Henry Wyatt Reeves and Elizabeth "Bettie" J. McCorkle.

Her grandparents were Willis Reeves and Elizabeth Rooker and also Edwin Alexander McCorkle and Jane Maxwell Thomas.

Annie R. Reeves and Eugene Casey were married July 25, 1897 in Crockett Co.. They are buried at Raines Cemetery in Gadsden. (See marriage and cemetery listing this site) Eugene was s/o Thomas B. Casey and Elizabeth Benson.

Thomas was s/o John Casey and Parlina Hamilton.

Parlina was d/o William Newton Hamilton and Mary Jane McCullough. See William Newton Hamilton Will.

Eugene Casey's sister, Dora H. Casey, married James Kendrick Dunlap. See J. K. Dunlap Will.
