W. C. Vandyke

Funeral services for W. C. Vandyke, 76, leading citizen of the Eighth District were held on Tuesday afternoon, November 26 at Pond Creek Methodist Church by the Rev. J. P. Irion and the Rev. B. A. Walker.

Mr. Vandyke had been a member of Pond Creek Methodist Church from childhood and served in every official capacity of the church. He was at the time of his death a member of the Board of Trustees. Mr. Vandyke was born and reared in the Cairo neighborhood, member of a pioneer family of the county, and had many friends.

He is survived by a foster son, Martin Gaba, two sisters, Mrs. Mannie Poole of Jackson and Mrs. Lillie Brown of Los Angeles.

Burial was in Pond Creek Cemetery.

Ronk Funeral Home in charge.


William Calvin Vandyke was the son of Robert A. Vandyke & Mahala A. J. Hays. He married 11 Dec 1892 in Crockett Co. to Ora E. Brimm
