The Crockett Times Alamo, Tenn. Thursday, April 4, 1946 John D. Tipton, Sr. John D. Tipton, Sr., died Monday morning at his home in Alamo after a long illness. He was for many years a farmer and was born and reared in the Alamo community, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tipton, pioneers of this section. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Annie Tipton; two daughters, Mrs. Norma Caldwell and Mrs. Travis Ball of Alamo; one son, J. D. Tipton, Jr., Humboldt; two grandsons, two granddaughters; two brothers, Jim Tipton, Memphis; Lawrence Tipton, Alamo, and one sister, Mrs. Francis Evans, Humboldt. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Alamo and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the residence in Alamo. Services were conducted by Rev. Frank Perry and Rev. J. P. Irion. Burial in Alamo Cemetery Evans & Lasiter Undertakers in charge. |
