The Crockett Times Alamo, Tennessee Thursday, May 6, 1948 Vol. 16 No. 10 Mrs. Ada Thomas--Services for Mrs. Ada E. Thomas of 1736 Faxon, who died at 10:20 last night at her home will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow afternoon at National Funeral Home. Dr. R. H. Wade will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery at Brownsville. Mrs. Thomas had been in failing health 18 months and had been seriously ill six months. She was 85. Mrs. Thomas was born in Crockett County, the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Mrs. Harriet Moore Criehlow. Before moving to Memphis in 1904, she lived for a number of years in Brownsville and Dyer, Tenn. Her husband, the late William S. Thomas was a Haywood County, Tenn., former Sunday school teacher at First Methodist Church. Mrs. Thomas was in the first group of women to be elected to the Board of Stewards there. She leaves two sons, William S. Thomas and J. Elliston Thomas, both of Memphis. ----Sunday's Commercial. Mrs. Thomas will be remembered by many of the older people of Crockett County. |
